What Do the Crazy Hat Sisters Mean to Each Other?

To the Crazy Hat Society, “Sister” means ALL women …
Mothers, sisters, grandmothers, girlfriends, daughters, grand-daughters,
aunts, nieces, cousins, and extended family!

Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don’t do what they’re supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.
BUT …
Sisters are there, no mater how much time
and how many miles are between you.
A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself,
the women in your life will be on the valley’s rim, cheering you on, praying for you,
pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley’s end.
Sometimes they will even break the rules and walk beside you … or come in and carry you out.
Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers,
Grandmothers, aunts, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life!
The world wouldn’t be the same without women and neither would I.
When we began this adventure called womanhood we had no idea of the incredible joys
or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.
Every day we need each other still.

Mary Kay in Grandma's Hat

Mary Kay,

wearing her grandmothers hat...

Pictures of the Girls

Amber; remembering what it was like to eat solid food... Jeanne was showing off her pepper/celery/onion concoction from Chicago!
Yes, that's a bird on her head...
Shirley thinks Jeanne was possess by Flora...
Shirley LOVES her Mojitos!

May 28th Meeting

Amber's Puffiness

Day One:
Ouch! Day Two:
Looks like someone's hiding some nuts in her cheek...

Day Three:

The swelling has already gone down! Thank God for ice packs!

Gulliver's Got it Goin' On

Candy Recruiting

Candy was on the look-out for new recruits... and how could we forget the mother dove who has been sitting on her nest for the last month? Trust Miss Candy to find her and ask her to join!
Candy just won't take no for an answer! Here she is seen pleading with the bird (we didn't get her name) to join us!

Flora

We begin every meeting with a toast to Flora. Flora lived in what is now Shirley's house until 2005 when she passed away. She left behind a truck load of 'artifacts' from clothes to legal paper work, love letters, journals, pictures and yes, even hats... Although she never married she seemed to live a full life. Shirley has now dedicated portions (almost all) of her home to Flora's memory. Since we have all of Flora's glamorous photos we can only assume that she loved champagne as much as we do, which is why we toast with champagne at our meetings.
Some say Flora is still in the house today... having loved it so much... only time will tell if she makes herself known.

Amber's Trip to the Surgeon

Shirley snapped this shot of Amber meer hours after she had her Wisdom teeth removed... Ironically, her shirt says, "DARE to resist drugs and violence" as hydrocodone flows freely through her veins...

Miss Candy crawled in the van early on to make sure she wasn't left behind.
This is Phil, taken by surprise by the delightful send off.

As for Amber, she is healing nicely and can't wait for the second Crazy Hat Society meeting tonight!

Quick Sidenote: it looks very hard to smile when you have that white thing on and your face is swollen... what a trooper!

Shirley

I love this picture of Shirley! Doesn't she just have that "I'm the boss" look in her eye... cool as a cucumber... the untouchable... She is our rock.

Love you!

Mary Kay

Mary Kay... wondering what she's got herself into...

Jeanne and Champagne

Jeanne helped kick the night off right by opening the champagne!

Forgot to mention

I forgot to mention the two honorary guests last night... Miss Maxie and Miss Candy!
We are still on the hunt for the perfect hats for them so they can become "official". If you find one let us know!

Our First Meeting

Last night was the official kick-off meeting for the Ladies of Fairmount... For our first meeting we had four attendees in person and one conference call. Shirley, Jeanne, Amber and Mary-Kay are the four ladies in the picture, and Kim called in close to eight pm.

We drank champagne and danced when the phone rang! I think this is going to be an awesome society! More to come a little later.
